With a call to redouble efforts for a healthy adolescence with a rights-based approach, the II International Congress on Comprehensive Adolescent Health concluded with great success , held between September 17 and 19 in Paraguay during three intense days.

Organized in conjunction with the Directorate of Comprehensive Child and Adolescent Health , under the General Directorate of Health Programs of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS), the meeting brought together health leaders from across the country, along with prominent national and international specialists , to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices that strengthen comprehensive care for adolescents.

The closing day was dedicated to 300 teenagers from public and subsidized schools , who participated in interactive workshops and activities designed to recognize them as protagonists of their own development and promoters of a healthier life.
Among the international guests, the presentations of Dr. Mónica Borile (Argentina), recognized for her work in social pediatrics and adolescent mental health, and Dr. Félix Notario (Spain) , a leading figure in neuroscience and cognitive development, stood out. Their keynote lectures set the academic pace of the congress and sparked keen interest among professionals and young participants.
The program also featured the participation of renowned specialists such as Dr. Alejandra Corao (Venezuela) and Dr. Flor Echevarría (Argentina), along with a wide representation of Paraguayan professionals, including Msc. Juan Marcelo Fernández, Vice Minister of Childhood, Dr. César Ruiz Díaz, Dr. Stella Samaniego, Dr. Zully Suárez and Dr. Claudia Sanabria, among many others.
Authorities from the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS), representatives of international cooperation agencies , and representatives from various institutions in the country attended the closing ceremony.
Reaffirming the intersectoral commitment to the well-being of Paraguayan youth.
The congress included discussion panels on teenage pregnancy prevention, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, screen time, obesity and chronic diseases, among other relevant topics.

Under the motto: “Healthy Adolescence: A Comprehensive Approach,” the congress established itself as a space for analysis and dialogue on the current and future challenges of adolescent health.
In this way, we can promote inclusive and sustainable public policies.

We reaffirm our commitment through this congress, whose great result is the fruit of the agreement that seeks to improve access to and quality of public adolescent health services in Paraguay, with special emphasis on sexual and reproductive health and on reducing teenage pregnancy.
