One year after the implementation of the project aimed at strengthening women’s rights and improving the quality of sexual and reproductive health care , carried out in partnership with CIPCA – Peru and with funding from the Valencian Government , it is confirmed that the initiative generated positive results with an impact on the beneficiary communities .
The project was developed during 2023 and 2024 in two districts in the northern highlands of the Piura region: Canchaque and San Miguel de El Faique . Thanks to its implementation, 869 women benefited directly and 474 men indirectly , who actively participated in the various activities, prioritizing the organization and coordination of women .

A total of 45 women leaders , members of two local organizations (one per district), strengthened their organizational and leadership capacities , integrating themselves into the socio-political fabric of their communities. These leaders now participate in citizen decision-making spaces such as the District Coordination Body for the Prevention, Punishment, and Eradication of Violence against Women and Family Members , and the Local Coordination Body for Development and Social Inclusion . From these spaces, they have promoted rights and improved key public services such as education, health, and access to safe water .

The project also included:
- Training and support were provided to municipal officials and local government staff responsible for the provision of public services. Together, planning documents and local public policies with a gender perspective were developed .
- Strengthening 10 health establishments , organized into four Local Health Administration Communities (CLAS) , with medical equipment and instruments for obstetrics and differentiated care for adolescents .

These resources were acquired according to the Improvement Plans developed in a participatory manner by the health personnel, in coordination with the Morropón Huancabamba Subregional Health Directorate , who also received specialized training in recruitment and care of pregnant women with an intercultural approach and comprehensive care for adolescents .

The project also promoted significant community actions , such as the celebrations of March 8 (International Women’s Day) and November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) . During these events, organized women assumed leading roles , gaining visibility as active agents of economic and social development in their districts.

With this initiative, reaffirming the commitment to social development , together with CIPCA , a Peruvian Jesuit organization with 53 years of experience in articulating and activating local and regional spaces, promoting gender equality, interculturality and integral ecology, is an incentive to move forward.
