Key training empowers healthcare staff and the Equatorial Guinean community.

Within the framework of the cooperation agreement carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Social Welfare and Health Infrastructure (MINSABSIS), which promotes the improvement of the health system in Equatorial Guinea, an initiative focused on strengthening the capacities of health personnel in the management of health promotion and prevention, with the active involvement of the community, was developed and well received, marking a decisive step towards more effective and accessible care.

We recognize that community participation is a fundamental pillar for the success of health programs, as it facilitates the identification of local problems and fosters ownership of the actions.

Therefore, the training sessions were held in the four provincial capitals of the continental region (Ebibeyin, Mongomo, Evinayong and Bata) and one at the island level (Baney), thus covering a broad spectrum of the territory.

The training was designed to enhance the skills of District Chief Physicians, District Primary Health Care (PHC) managers, District Community Mobilization and Health Services (ESMOVS) managers, and social affairs delegates. We provided them with community mobilization methodologies, including awareness-raising techniques, participatory dialogue, and leadership development. This enables them to implement more effective management actions, tailored to the specific needs of each community and fostering shared responsibility in health promotion and disease prevention. In total, 104 professionals benefited from this training, of whom 67 were women (64.3%) and 37 were men (35.7%), reflecting a clear commitment to strengthening the Equatorial Guinean health system.

The working sessions, which were organized from October 15 to 28, included 5 training sessions lasting two days each.

We look to the future with the certainty that these actions consolidate a more robust and participatory health system in Equatorial Guinea.
