Institutional follow-up visit to ongoing interventions to foster synergies in Cape Verde.

Strengthening alliances, monitoring ongoing projects, and continuing to promote actions in favor of health, social justice, and the eradication of gender-based violence (GBV) were among the objectives carried out during the institutional visit to Cape Verde, led by the Director – Javier Poveda , the Project CoordinatorSandra Gallego , and the Administrator – María Cañón , of the Religious Foundation for Health – FRS.

The visit included meetings in the city of Praia (Santiago Island) and on Sal Island , and was marked by an intense schedule of activities and meetings with institutions.

One of the highlights was the celebration of the third edition of the Zero VBG Festival , a high-impact social event that brought together more than 4,000 people , with the participation of 14 artists and a powerful program of awareness and prevention messages on gender-based violence.

The official launch of the database on GBV cases , which will be used by the ICIEG and the Ministry of Justice of Cape Verde, was another objective achieved during the visit. This important event was presided over by the First Lady of Cape Verde and attended by various national and international authorities , including the Ambassador of Spain , underscoring the institutional relevance and scope of the project promoted by FRS.

During the visit, Javier Poveda and Sandra Gallego also held working meetings with the Minister of Family Affairs , the Minister of Health , the Director General of Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Services , the presidents of ICIEG and ICCA , and the president of the Sal Municipal Council . They also had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the work of the local NGO Colmeia , strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders in Cape Verdean society.

Overall, it was a very fruitful visit , which consolidates the role of the Religious for Health Foundation as a strategic ally in Cape Verde and reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of human rights, gender equality and the strengthening of protection and care systems for the most vulnerable people.
