Consolidating efforts to build capacity and expand access to healthcare.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Social Welfare and Health Infrastructure (MINSABSIS) and with financial support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the strengthening of the national health system of Equatorial Guinea is progressing as planned.

Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement through which we intend to improve the quality of Primary Health Care (PHC) of the NHS through decentralized management, the development of human resources and the integration of the health information system, three strategic consultancies have been prepared.

These consultancies, after their validation and adoption by the MINSABSIS Technical Committee, will represent a milestone in the modernization and sustainability of the health system:

  1. Organizational and Functional Framework of MINSABSIS.
Clearly defines the institutional structure, functions and responsibilities of each level and department, facilitating coordination and more efficient management.
  2. Regulatory Framework Manual for Health Planning Processes.
    >Establishes a common methodological framework for planning processes at the strategic, tactical and operational levels, ensuring coherence between the National Health Development Plan ( PNDS ), the District Health Plans and the Annual Operating Plans (POA ).
  3. Protocols for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
    >They respond to the growing burden of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer, providing standardized guidelines for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up at all levels of the health system.

Continuing education for healthcare personnel

At the same time, continuing education activities were developed according to learning needs, aimed at strengthening the skills of health personnel in the Health Districts.

These training sessions, designed in response to local needs, sought to update knowledge, improve skills, promote the application of good clinical practices and improve the management of services in primary health care.

A total of 79 healthcare professionals participated , of whom 36 were women (45.5%) and 43 were men (54.4%) . The active involvement of the participants reflects the collective commitment to improving the quality of care and consolidating a more equitable and resilient healthcare system.

Commitment to public health

With these actions, we reiterate our firm commitment to public health in Equatorial Guinea , promoting initiatives that strengthen the capacity of the national health system, foster equity in access and contribute to building a more efficient, sustainable model focused on the needs of the population.
