To reinforce the commitment to the health and well-being of adolescents and young people in Paraguay, an educational talk was given on September 25th by the Kuarahy Rese Family Health Unit (USF) as part of Youth Week . The talk, aimed at students of the Geraldino Rotela National High School in the department of Caazapá , focused on promoting self-care and prevention.

During the session, geared towards middle school students, key topics for comprehensive adolescent development were addressed, such as addictions , alcoholism , smoking , vaping , prevention of teenage pregnancy , contraceptive methods available at the Family Health Unit (USF) , the Adolescent Health Record Book , and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) . The activity was facilitated by nursing technician Alcides Ojeda and community health worker Romina Espinoza , who fostered a participatory space for dialogue and reflection.
“Speaking openly and without prejudice helps young people make responsible decisions about their health,” the school community stated. A total of 35 students and 3 teachers participated , and they appreciated the approach, which was personal, preventative, and tailored to their circumstances.

This initiative falls under the agreement “Improving access to and quality of public adolescent health services with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and the prevention of teenage pregnancy ,” implemented by the Religious Foundation for Health (FRS) in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPBS) and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) . Through this collaborative effort, FRS continues to promote a more informed, healthy, and empowered youth .
