Together with ten Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and four community leaders, the first two constitutive meetings of a Support Circle were held, consisting of the consolidation of a common and comprehensive approach mechanism to cases of gender violence that affect the communities where they intervene.
The activity was organized and developed together with ASAMA, in collaboration with the Ministries of Gender Equality, Social Affairs and Crafts (MIGASA) and the Ministry of the Interior and Local Administration.
The first meeting of the Support Circle was held on November 6, 2025 in the main hall of the Damian Roku Epitie Monga General Hospital in Bata, with the participation of CSOs and community leaders from Bata, while the second meeting was held on November 13 at the headquarters of the NGO IMEGE in Malabo.

The meetings lasted two hours, with two representatives from each organization and one representative from each of the four invited communities in attendance.

During the meetings, which included interactive presentations, group discussions, debates, brainstorming, etc., two important topics were addressed:
First, the objectives that are to be achieved with the support circle, which mainly involves the creation of a shared space for CSOs to discuss their activities, problems, and achievements related to the promotion of gender equality and the prevention of gender violence.

Secondly, the event included the presentation of the main findings of a diagnostic report on the needs of civil society organizations in supporting victims of gender-based violence, prepared by a consultant hired by FRS. The proceedings concluded with the signing of the Circle’s founding charter.
26 members (19 women and 7 men) from 10 Civil Society Organizations (5 in Bata and 5 in Malabo) and four communities (2 in Bata and 2 in Malabo) participated in the events where authorities from two different Ministries were present.

In Bata, the Most Illustrious Lords Secretary General of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Social Affairs and Crafts, and Regional Delegate of Civil Society of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Administration were present.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the project “Comprehensive Strengthening of Institutional and Community Mechanisms for the Prevention and Care of Gender Violence in Equatorial Guinea” funded by the European Union.
We reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the capacities of local organizations, promoting a space to improve the care and support system of Equatorial Guinean CSOs, sharing experiences and good practices in the process of addressing cases of gender violence in Bata and Malabo.
